About Janis Baer – textured acrylic artist in Mallorca
As a textured acrylic artist in Mallorca, I create artworks that blend craftsmanship with a calm, contemporary sensibility. My work begins with natural tones, layered materials and sculptural depth inspired by the light, warmth and quiet elegance of the island.
Each piece is shaped through an intuitive and meditative process: building structure, softening edges, refining surfaces and allowing the material to guide its final form. The result is tactile, modern artwork that brings serenity and subtle sophistication into interior spaces, particularly luxury homes, design showrooms and carefully curated architectural environments.
In addition to my acrylic texture works, I also create detailed charcoal and graphite portraits. These drawings range from realistic to hyper-realistic and capture emotion with precision – offering a more intimate artistic expression that complements my textured pieces without becoming their focus.

Artist statement
My abstract acrylic pieces focus on texture, materiality and quiet depth. My abstract acrylic pieces focus on texture, materiality and quiet depth, inviting a moment of stillness within modern spaces. Through layered surfaces and natural tones, I explore how subtle shifts in structure can create balance and presence.
Alongside this, my charcoal and graphite portraits continue a long-standing fascination with realism and hyperrealism. Whether abstract or figurative, my intention remains the same: to observe closely, work honestly with the material and create art that reconnects us with calm, clarity and the emotional nuances we often overlook.

Artist bio – textured acrylic artist in Mallorca
Janis Baer is a German textured acrylic artist in Mallorca. Inspired by the island’s light, natural textures and ancient stone structures, she creates abstract acrylic works defined by depth, calm and earthy tones.
Born in Berlin, she discovered art early – first through graffiti, later through realism and portrait drawing. Today, her practice moves between textured acrylic pieces and precise charcoal portraits, allowing both disciplines to influence one another and enriching her understanding of form, light and structure.
Her process is intuitive and quiet: bright studio spaces, classical music, natural materials and a rhythm that shifts between painting and drawing. She is drawn to faces that tell stories and to surfaces that reveal subtle structures.
Janis increasingly collaborates with interior designers and architects, placing her works in spaces where material, atmosphere and artistic presence come together. Her paintings and drawings are created with the intention to live in long-term dialogue with the interiors they inhabit.
Connected to the island’s nature
Mallorca’s raw textures, ancient stones and quiet natural presence have become an essential part of my artistic language. I feel deeply connected to the island’s rhythm – its light, its earth and the calm honesty of its environment. These elements influence the way I work: grounded, intuitive and guided by material and atmosphere. Whether I am building sculptural acrylic layers or drawing precise charcoal portraits, the island’s character is always there – subtle, but unmistakable.

Approach to commissions and collaborations
When I work on commissions for interiors and private collections, I begin by understanding the architecture, light and materials of the space. Together with clients, interior designers or galleries, I define the desired mood, scale and placement of the artwork. From there, I develop a series of sketches and material studies before building the final textured acrylic piece layer by layer.
This process allows each work to feel deeply connected to its environment – whether it is a single focal point in a living room, a subtle piece for a bedroom or a statement work in a designer showroom. My goal is always to create artworks that will remain relevant and quietly powerful over many years.
